Guts And Glory Episode 9: Bane Of My Existence

Alex is happy with his power move that got Brandon out, but Nicola already knows he was the snitch. Pissed off by the other side's smugness, she's all-out to take them down a peg. Shannon, Micah, Evan and Allan have just been solidified even tighter now that they know they can't trust anybody else.

Mollie and Nicola are worried that they're facing a 5-5 situation and that Alex could bring Katie over with him. Alex admits to Katie that he did tip Evan off and she tears him a new one for not keeping her informed. Alex takes a valuable lesson from this: always be honest.

The immunity challenge is to spin around on a bat and navigate an obstacle course, with a tossing section thrown in for the finale. The first heat is Evan, Rene, Katie, Micah and Mollie. Evan takes the lead and wins, whilst Katie and Micah have some epic falls. Evan finishes first, Micah takes two tries but clinches second, and Rene is right behind him. Allan, Shannon, Alex, Nicola and Matt kick off the second heat. Shannon dominates and wins (finally a girl does well in this challenge!) with Alex and Allan following her.

On the final round, it's Shannon, Evan and Alex that are the first to finish spinning, and Shannon drops an egg on the egg-carrying section to give Evan a lead. Evan is first to start tossing, but soon everyone else has caught up. With numerous tosses and misses, Micah scores out of nowhere to clinch it.

The bridge is collapsing
Rene tries to talk to Shannon after the challenge, as he knows she's mad at him. Shannon accuses him of not sticking to their agreement to tell eachother information, but he denies that was ever the plan. Rene gets mad, saying he saved Shannon from going home. Mollie and Nicola get to witness most of this and speculate that it's a lover's quarrel.

Micah and Evan try to convince Katie to vote with them, pointing out that Matt and Rene have already flipped on her once. Fearing it didn't work, Evan decides to give full disclosure to his Sohcahtrio and let them know he not only has another idol but that Alex is his inside man. They talk about having Micah give immunity to Shannon, to play on the idea that Micah has an idol, and then have Evan play it. Evan talks to Alex where he thanks him for saving him and promises him final 2. But although Evan does have a newfound trust in Alex, he is still loyal to the trio first and foremost.

Nicola takes aim
Nicola suggests to her alliance that it might be smartest to vote Allan, since the risk of him having an idol is pretty low. The trio settle on voting for Rene. Alex and Katie are in the middle and Alex's preference is to do Rene first and Allan next, since Rene is a strong competitor. Alex tells Rene to his face he's voting him out, which only gives him a chance to try and change his mind. And it almost works.

With nothing to lose, Rene blows up Alex's spot at tribal council by outing him as the mole. Nicola says they all know who the pair in the middle is, as Alex says he doesn't want either side to get to powerful. Yikes, that's got to be reassuring. Mollie defends her flip to the Noir side, saying she felt she had better options there...but Shannon says she's going to lose jury votes if she keeps lying to them. Allan gets a question about the side he's chosen, just to prove he still exists. With his final words, Rene claims he's played an honest game and then clashes with Alex again after Alex accuses him of being disrespectful to Katie.

The vote is between Rene and Allan, with Allan finding great amusement in how his name is spelled differently on every vote. 6 for Rene is enough, and he is sent to the jury. But with it basically being an open secret that Alex and Katie are pivoting back and forth between both sides, how happy can the victorious side really be? And can they do anything to combat the impending flip?
